Responsibilities

  • Plan, lay out, and perform installation, maintenance, and repair of complex steel mill equipment.
  • Diagnose and work in varied capacities required in highly technical maintenance.
  • Overhaul and repair items involving special automatic electrical and electronic controls.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Use technical electronic diagnostic and computer equipment to diagnose and repair plant equipment.
  • Troubleshoot AC/DC motor controls, PLC, electrical drives, and high voltage systems.
  • Perform precision shaft and equipment alignment.
  • Analyze work orders and equipment malfunctions to plan troubleshooting procedures.
  • Provide instructions to other Maintenance personnel to reduce production delays.
  • Execute planning and scheduling of maintenance activities.
  • Maintain CMMS records.
  • Position, fit, and weld components to assemble structural forms and machinery.
  • Utilize specialty cutting and welding equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and service pumps, gearboxes, motors, and hydraulic systems.
  • Repair damaged motors, starters, solenoids, and various mill power distribution systems.
  • Install and wire motors and controls for steel mill machines.
  • Perform general maintenance operations such as pipe fitting and welding.
  • Maintain specified records of work performed and materials usage.
  • Interpret schematics and blueprints at an advanced level.
  • Operate mobile equipment to lift and transport materials.
  • Ensure daily preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles and mobile equipment.
  • Follow all PPE requirements and safety rules.
  • Assist in training of coworkers as needed.
  • Maintain communication with coworkers through two-way radio and hand signals.
  • Work as part of a self-directed team with limited supervision.
  • Maintain work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
  • Engage in GBS tools and methodology.
  • Have basic computer skills, specifically SAP experience and Microsoft.
  • Perform vendor services planning and parts store upkeep.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Verifiable maintenance technical training.
  • Understanding of shop mathematics and use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience working in an industrial environment with routine maintenance.
  • 7 to 10 years of heavy industrial maintenance experience.
  • Mastery knowledge of AC/DC motors, gearbox mechanics, and lubrication principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of pump, gearbox, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Thorough understanding of lubricants.
  • Applicable level 1 PDM training in laser alignment, vibration, and lubrication.
  • Experience creating standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with Robotics.
  • Experience with Failure Analysis and FMEA principles.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments.
