Overview

Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company that focuses on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Welder position on the 2nd shift involves welding metal structural components for communication towers and sign structures.

Responsibilities

  • Fuse or weld metal structural components using GMAW arc welding.
  • Perform welding operations with limited planning from blueprints or specifications.
  • Utilize safety devices and wear mandatory personal protective equipment.
  • Adjust welding equipment to prescribed settings.
  • Maintain and operate production tooling and welding equipment safely.
  • Read and complete labor reporting systems and blueprints.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Acceptable attendance and prior employment record.
  • Three to five years of hands-on MIG welding experience in a production environment.
  • Multi-pass, stack layering welding experience.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes, prior experience preferred.
  • Ability to read weld symbols and understand blueprints.
  • Must be able to use and accurately read a tape measure.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Positive communication and interaction with coworkers.
  • Must maintain a safe and productive working environment.
