Overview
The Fabrication Welder position at Thompson Machinery involves applying various welding techniques to cut, join, fabricate, and repair metal or other weldable materials, primarily in support of heavy equipment repairs. Thompson Machinery, a Caterpillar equipment dealer since 1944, serves a diverse range of industries across Tennessee and northern Mississippi.
Responsibilities
- Draw, design & fabricate pieces to build and/or repair components.
- Read & interpret prints and drawings for fabrication projects.
- Perform horizontal, vertical & overhead welding.
- Use appropriate welding techniques for various fabrication projects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three or more years of previous journey-level welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience with standard welding and fabrication equipment, including MIG, TIG, electric arc, heliarc, oxyacetylene, plasma cutter, saw, drill press, grinders, and metal brakes.
- Must possess a complete set of basic fabrication welder hand tools.
- Must develop functional ability in the use of proprietary software.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid state driver’s license.
Additional Information
- Able to work standard five-day work schedules, including daily overtime, and occasional weekend hours as required.
- Work is performed primarily in company service shops but may also include customer field locations.
- Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Must be honest, reliable, and dependable, and display a positive attitude.
