Overview
Dover Precision Components is part of Dover Corporation’s Pumps and Process solutions segment, delivering performance-critical solutions across various markets. The Manual Machinist will perform non-repetitive repair assignments in a reciprocating compressor repair service center, requiring proficiency in operating manual machine tools and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Works safely and participates in team meetings and programs.
- Studies blueprints and determines operation methods and sequences.
- Lays out, sets up, and fabricates precision parts to exacting tolerances.
- Performs close tolerance machining operations and conducts own inspections.
- Adjusts machines and acquires necessary tools and fixtures.
- Checks dimensions using precision-measuring instruments.
- Maintains tooling and work cell cleanliness.
- Performs routine service and maintenance on equipment.
- Follows all company safety directives and maintains a clean work environment.
- May rotate into other positions within the team as needed.
- Prepares recommendations for improvements in methods or processes.
- Submits inspection reports and documentation as required.
- Maintains reliable attendance and is willing to work overtime and weekends.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five or more years of machining experience.
- Apprenticeship and additional manual machine shop experience preferred.
- Previous reciprocating compressor repair and manual machining experience is a plus.
- Proficient in the use of gauges, micrometers, and hand tools.
- Knowledge of fabrication and assembly techniques and materials.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions in English.
- Strong computation skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in machining operations.
