Overview

The Electrician position at Hobby Airport involves troubleshooting, maintaining, managing, and upgrading electromechanical systems to ensure safe and economical electricity distribution. The role requires performing journeyman level electrical work in accordance with relevant codes and acting as a first responder to electrical failures.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, schematics, and design specifications.
  • Utilize knowledge of National Electrical Codes and experience with electrical tools and materials.
  • Work with high voltage (15 KV), primary distribution, and emergency generators.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, manage, and upgrade electromechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Research and analyze causes of failures and repair or replace system components.
  • Provide preventive maintenance ensuring safe and clean operating conditions.
  • Prepare and update records, logs, and reports related to work performed.
  • Respond to emergency calls for electrical failures and shutdowns.
  • Organize, schedule, and monitor work assignments.
  • Research technical product specifications and evaluate product prices from vendors.
  • Assist in inventory control management of electrical parts and components.

Requirements

  • High School degree or GED certificate required.
  • Completion of an approved apprentice electrician program or equivalent.
  • No journey level experience required.
  • Valid State of Texas Journeyman Electrician License required.
  • Valid Texas driver's license required; may require a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Additional Information

  • Varied workdays and hours including shift work, weekends, and holidays.
  • Position involves considerable physical exertion and occasional exposure to hazardous conditions.
