The Bench Mechanic position involves fabricating, assembling, and repairing sheet metal parts and products under general supervision.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications.
• Performs all deburring operations.
• Strips remaining maskant and silstic from finished chem mill parts.
• Removes burrs and sharp edges using hand tools and materials.
• Smoothes edges and removes build ups with air or electric equipment.
• Operates burring equipment such as countersink and grinding wheels.
• Controls thickness using ultrasonic gages and micrometers.
• Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including leading projects.

Requirements

• Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend instructions such as blueprints.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in small group situations.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
• Must be able to comply with specific safety policies.
