Overview
At UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services, the Resident Mechanic plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing residential appliances and systems, contributing to the overall excellence of housing and hospitality services provided to the UCLA community.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components of residential appliances.
- Install, adjust, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems and equipment.
- Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks on plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Write concise and accurate reports and complete logs of work performed.
- Load and unload mechanical equipment from various surfaces.
- Interact courteously and professionally with department contacts and UCLA personnel.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2 years previous experience working on HVAC equipment.
- General knowledge of refrigeration equipment and repair techniques.
- Working knowledge of residential kitchen equipment and plumbing procedures.
- Knowledge of heating, ventilation, refrigeration equipment, and distribution systems.
- Understanding of 120/208V electrical systems and testing equipment.
- Ability to perform semi-skilled plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry repairs.
- Skill in operating hand and power tools.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as required.
- Valid CA noncommercial Class C License.
- Universal certificate from EPA for handling CFC's and HCFC's.
Additional Information
- Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- Union/Policy Covered: K4-Skilled Crafts-UCLA.
