Overview
A Hand Solderer for Surface Mount Devices (SMD) is responsible for manually placing and soldering miniature electronic components onto Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). Responsibilities
- Manually place and solder miniature electronic components onto Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs).
- Work under a microscope for long periods.
- Proficiently use both leaded and lead-free (RoHS) soldering processes.
- Understand and work with complex schematics, drawings, and specifications.
- Perform final assembly or production build-up of complete units.
- Troubleshoot and rework production items as needed.
- Review and verify shop packet material for completeness.
- Make minor procedural decisions in soldering and fitting.
- Plan work sequences and verify the workability of completed items.
- Sign off on shop traveler prior to continuing to the next process.
Requirements
- Minimum of J-STD-001 Class 2; Class 3 preferred.
- H.S. Diploma or GED.
- 3 - 5 years of related experience and/or training.
- J-STD-001 Class III Solder Certification required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to complete assigned paperwork and shop travelers.
- Ability to follow verbal, written, or diagram instructions.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Must be safety oriented.
- Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
