Overview
Stellant is excited to offer a MATERIALS & PROCESSES ENGINEER position at our Torrance facility. We are an industry leader in high-performance RF technology, supporting terrestrial and spaceborne communications, electronic warfare, and radar missions.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for materials and processes, including welding, soldering, brazing, precision chemical cleaning, plating, and laboratory testing.
- Improve and develop welding processes to meet functional requirements with high quality and consistency.
- Troubleshoot process problems and interface with internal and external customers.
- Write specifications and procedures, develop and revise weld schedules, and train operators on processing techniques.
- Support cleaning, plating, brazing, soldering, adhesives, paints, machining, and metallizing.
- Conduct extensive laboratory activities including SEM, XPS, microscopy, DSC, XRF, and X-Rays, as well as small-scale laboratory tests.
Requirements
- Level III: requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Level IV: requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Level V: requires a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Strong knowledge of metals, joining methods, and metallurgical concepts.
- Hands-on experience in Brazing, Soldering, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), and Laser Welding.
- Proven experience in precision chemical cleaning and plating processes.
- Demonstrated ability to develop welding schedules and specifications.
- Deep understanding of engineering materials specific to a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with materials, laboratory equipment, and test plan execution.
- Capability to draft Materials and Processes (M&P) engineering documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and coordinate multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills with a proven track record of working closely with production personnel.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
