Overview

Join Hydro Inc., the world’s largest independent pump rebuilder, headquartered in Chicago. This role involves restoring critical rotating equipment to peak performance at the Aftermarket Pump Repair Shop in Chicago’s West Loop.

Responsibilities

  • Tear down, inspect, diagnose, and rebuild a wide range of pumps, compressors, and small turbines.
  • Head into the field as needed to assess issues on-site and make timely repairs.
  • Operate equipment including steam cleaner, sandblaster, bead blaster, cranes/hoists/come-along, forklift, pullers/presses/rams, ovens/heaters, and impact tools.
  • Perform maintenance welding.
  • Step up as the lead in the supervisor’s absence and keep work moving safely and efficiently.
  • Build strong working relationships across the team and with adjacent departments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years as a pump mechanic with shop repair experience, including assembly/disassembly of pumps, valves, and rotating equipment.
  • Skilled in acetylene and electric arc welding.
  • Proficient with power and hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in pump repair and maintenance.
  • Millwright mechanic background or formal training from an accredited technical college/trade school, or an equivalent multiyear apprenticeship.
  • Knowledge of working with electric motors.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Journeyman certification or US military experience desired.
  • Two years’ experience in machining and tooling in a machine shop environment is desired.
