Overview

The Maintenance Technician assists the Production Supervisor in maintaining production line operations and supports the Maintenance Manager with preventive maintenance tasks. The role requires mechanical and electrical repair skills and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out daily work orders supplied by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Performs mechanical and electrical inspection and repairs.
  • Fabrics various elements according to drawings and specifications provided by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Tracks tools used during work hours and returns them to proper location when finished.
  • Informs Maintenance Manager when maintenance supplies and/or spares need to be ordered.
  • Troubleshoots problems on the Production Line and makes repairs as required.
  • Makes necessary repairs to the facility as directed by the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor.
  • Inspects performance of all machinery and makes repairs if needed.
  • Provides support to all technicians for all areas if necessary.
  • Keeps the production floor and Machine Shop clean from tools and equipment.
  • Ensures all electrical boxes and cabinets are closed.
  • Shuts off all equipment when the plant is shut down for a long weekend.
  • Checks emergency exits and areas where fire extinguishers are stored.
  • Informs supervisor if additional personal protective equipment is needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including line set-up if competent.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Trade School Certificate with a minimum of six months of related mechanical/electrical experience.
  • Must be familiar with the machinery used in the company.
  • Ability to make quick, accurate repairs to machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Ability to speak some English preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills and measurements.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

Additional Information

  • Work schedule is from 4:15pm to 2:45am, Monday to Thursday, with possible work on Fridays and Saturdays.
  • This is a full-time position with mandatory overtime.
