Overview

Zekelman is a family of companies with a legacy dating back to 1877, recognized as the largest independent steel pipe and tube manufacturer in North America. As a Field Welder Helper at Z Modular in the Greater Phoenix Area, you will support field welding operations by assisting with equipment setup, material preparation, and job site organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist welders with all phases of field welding operations, including equipment setup, material preparation, and task execution.
  • Set up, organize, maintain, and retrieve welding support equipment, including welding machines, leads, extension cords, and related tools.
  • Perform grinding, cutting, cleaning, and preparation of raw and installed materials using hand and power tools.
  • Complete training and perform fire watch responsibilities during hot work activities, including monitoring work areas for potential hazards and following established safety and emergency procedures.
  • Load, unload, transport, stage, and organize materials and equipment to support field operations.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas by properly storing tools, equipment, materials, and debris at the end of each shift.
  • Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and report maintenance or safety concerns to supervision.
  • Work safely in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions while adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and a willingness to accept coaching and feedback while supporting project and team objectives.
  • Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous construction, welding helper, manufacturing, industrial labor, or related experience preferred.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Basic knowledge of construction and industrial safety practices.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, grinders, cutting tools, and other construction equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to identify workplace hazards and respond appropriately.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Dependable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to accept direction, coaching, and constructive feedback.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the Greater Phoenix area, with occasional to frequent national travel as business needs require.

Additional Information

  • This is a field-based position, with work performed primarily at active construction sites throughout the Greater Phoenix area.
  • Candidates should expect daily travel between project locations and must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Occasional to frequent national travel may be required based on project needs and future assignments.
