Overview
The Crater Builder - Shipping position involves fabricating shipping containers and cradles to military and commercial specifications, ensuring proper packing and securing of materials for domestic and overseas shipment. Candidates should have a strong background in woodworking and the ability to interpret blueprints and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Fabricates shipping containers, crates, and special devices to specifications.
- Lays out and fabricates detail parts of wood for shipping containers.
- Operates various power tools and cranes for fabrication.
- Designs and builds shipping fixtures made of steel and wood.
- Loads and secures items for shipment on rail cars and trailers.
- Packs parts and assemblies in containers using crating practices.
Requirements
- Two years of validated woodwork experience including close tolerance finish work.
- Ability to use various hand tools and power tools.
- Knowledge of structural design and ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to fabricate shipping cradles made of steel.
- Working knowledge of box building and crating practices.
