Overview
As a Traveling Heavy Civil Welding Technician at Curtis Contracting, Inc., you will deliver high-quality welds while supporting pipe rehabilitation and structural welding across various job sites in Virginia. The company, founded in 1985, emphasizes ethics, quality, and safety in its operations.
Responsibilities
- Drive to job sites in Virginia and review drawings.
- Choose the appropriate welding method and equipment.
- Prep parts using angle grinders and align components.
- Lay down welds in various positions using manual or semi-automatic processes.
- Join pipe at butt joints and ensure sound connections.
- Test and inspect finished welds for flaws.
- Maintain welding gear and tools for safety and efficiency.
- Assist with site tasks such as silt fence installation and debris clearing.
Requirements
- Documented experience as a welder with AWS D1.5 certification.
- Proven ability to pass radiographic (x-ray) tests.
- Hands-on proficiency with TIG and MMA welding methods.
- Experience using saws, squares, clamps, grinders, and other tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Solid understanding of safety standards and PPE usage.
- Additional professional certifications are advantageous.
- Willingness to perform physically demanding labor.
- Comfort working outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
- Flexibility to travel and work on the road.
