Overview
Boardwalk is a limited partnership in the midstream natural gas industry, providing transportation and storage services across 14,000 miles of pipeline. They are seeking a Welding Coordinator for their Owensboro, KY office to manage welding procedures and support construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide welding procedures and nondestructive testing procedures to Construction Managers for projects.
- Train Construction Technicians on monitoring in-service welding and other welding and NDT issues.
- Support the Welding Engineer in managing the welder qualification program and welder database.
- Update the Welding Manual and Welding Specifications and related O&M and construction documents.
- Audit welding documentation of projects and assist with State and DOT PHMSA audits.
- Onboard welding inspectors.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of construction practices, materials, manufacturing/fabrication methods, and energy industry standards applicable to natural gas pipelines.
- Ability to read construction drawings, alignment sheets, and valve maps.
- Willingness and ability to travel 50% of the time and work in various environments.
- Strong commitment to personal and team safety.
- High School Diploma.
- 5 years of experience in the Natural Gas Industry preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards such as API 5L, ASME B31.4/31.8, API 1104, 49CFR Parts 192 & 195, FERC, and OSHA regulations preferred.
- Degree in Welding Engineering or Welding Technology from an accredited university or 7+ years of experience with practical in-depth technical knowledge from a pipeline operating company and AWS CWI Certification preferred.
