Overview

Turner Industries is a fully diversified industrial contractor headquartered in Baton Rouge, LA, with over 20,000 employees across the United States. They are seeking Pipefitters in the Decatur, AL area to lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems for various industrial applications.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping and piping systems.
• Select and inspect proper safety gear for work tasks.
• Inspect worksites to determine presence of obstructions.
• Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions.
• Cut, thread, and bend pipe as needed.
• Assemble and install various metal and nonmetal pipe fittings.
• Join pipe using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
• Secure pipe to structure with clamps, brackets, supports, and hangers.
• Install and maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
• Test piping systems for leaks.
• Utilize a variety of power tools for pipe preparation.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to four years of experience in specified skill.
• Basic knowledge of field drawings, sketches, and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of connecting flanged pipe connections using cross pattern bolting technique.
• Ability to read and utilize a tape measure properly.
• Understanding of how to utilize a framing square for pipefitting tasks.
• Knowledge of proper use of power tools for cutting, welding, threading, and bolting.
• Ability to make accurate and precise weld connection fit ups.
• Post offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation required.
• Must comply with company and client job site safety requirements.
