Overview
At TAS Environmental Services, LP, the Fleet Mechanic plays a critical role in supporting operations by ensuring company vehicles, trailers, and equipment remain safe, reliable, and operational. This position directly impacts our ability to serve customers, support employees, and fulfill our mission of keeping communities safe and clean.
Responsibilities
- Perform general inspections of vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
- Conduct diagnostic testing and analyze mechanical issues.
- Perform minor and major repairs on trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance, including inspections, tire rotations, oil changes, and fluid checks.
- Inspect, repair, and replace bearings, brakes, lights, coolant systems, and other vehicle components.
- Diagnose and repair ABS systems, suspension systems, steering components, wheel alignment and balancing issues, leaks, and electrical systems.
- Ensure all repairs are completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate with team members to identify vehicle concerns and develop repair plans.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities with external repair facilities when necessary.
- Assist in maintaining fleet readiness and minimizing equipment downtime.
- Support operational needs by prioritizing repairs based on business requirements.
- Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies.
- Request purchase orders for parts and maintenance-related materials.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, and parts usage.
- Ensure all maintenance documentation is completed timely and accurately.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Properly wear and utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Identify and report safety concerns, equipment deficiencies, and maintenance issues.
- Participate in weekend rotations as assigned.
- Assist with special projects and operational initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience preferably in diesel mechanic.
- Must have mechanical tools.
- Should have a valid Class B driver’s license, Class A is a plus.
- TWIC card preferred.
- ASE Diesel Certification is preferred.
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical issues efficiently and effectively.
- Strong diagnostic and analytical skills.
- Works cooperatively with operations, leadership, vendors, and fellow team members.
- Demonstrates professionalism and respect in all interactions.
- Effectively communicates repair needs, equipment concerns, and maintenance recommendations.
- Maintains accurate documentation and records.
- Takes ownership of assigned work and follows tasks through to completion.
- Demonstrates reliability, organization, and attention to detail.
