Overview
Wood is recruiting experienced Certified Scaffold Journeymen for an ongoing Maintenance position in Houston, TX. The role requires authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Builds, positions, and dismantles scaffold structures from wood, steel frames, and steel poles according to sketches and blueprints.
- Works with civil crew when not performing scaffold duties.
- Examines, selects, and gathers materials and tools.
- Examines blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions of structure.
- Inspects base surface for obstructions.
- Loads, transports, and unloads material.
- Measures boards, timbers, or plywood and marks cutting lines on materials.
- Saws boards and plywood panels to required sizes.
- Uses carpentry hand tools and power tools.
- Assembles scaffold containing handrails, mid rails, braces, planks, and toe boards.
- Communicates effectively with supervision and employees.
- Works safely and productively.
- Understands and responds to all safety alerts and hazards.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of Journeyman experience in craft.
- Ability to use standard and/or metric rule to measure.
- Demonstrates ability to use whole numbers, fractions, and decimals for calculations.
- Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed for a job.
- Ability to calculate the amount of material needed for scaffold erection.
- Ability to read measuring tapes and understand levels.
- Ability to read and understand methods and procedures represented in drawings.
- Works in a safe and productive manner.
- Able to work at heights without fear.
