Overview

Wood is recruiting experienced Certified Scaffold Journeymen for an ongoing Maintenance position in Houston, TX. The role requires authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Builds, positions, and dismantles scaffold structures from wood, steel frames, and steel poles according to sketches and blueprints.
  • Works with civil crew when not performing scaffold duties.
  • Examines, selects, and gathers materials and tools.
  • Examines blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions of structure.
  • Inspects base surface for obstructions.
  • Loads, transports, and unloads material.
  • Measures boards, timbers, or plywood and marks cutting lines on materials.
  • Saws boards and plywood panels to required sizes.
  • Uses carpentry hand tools and power tools.
  • Assembles scaffold containing handrails, mid rails, braces, planks, and toe boards.
  • Communicates effectively with supervision and employees.
  • Works safely and productively.
  • Understands and responds to all safety alerts and hazards.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of Journeyman experience in craft.
  • Ability to use standard and/or metric rule to measure.
  • Demonstrates ability to use whole numbers, fractions, and decimals for calculations.
  • Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed for a job.
  • Ability to calculate the amount of material needed for scaffold erection.
  • Ability to read measuring tapes and understand levels.
  • Ability to read and understand methods and procedures represented in drawings.
  • Works in a safe and productive manner.
  • Able to work at heights without fear.
