Overview
Saulsbury Industries is seeking an Estimator - Mechanical to prepare and take ownership of cost estimating for bids and project proposals, focusing on identifying risks and opportunities while maintaining a winning strategy.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates based on scope of work, blueprints, specifications, and other documentation.
- Apply work hour unit rates for each item in the estimate to generate overall direct work hours.
- Understand construction equipment and temporary facilities requirements.
- Assist in soliciting quotes from material and equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and specified manufacturers.
- Distribute and maintain control of bid documents.
- Identify special client or project requirements for weather protection and other services.
- Analyze project location and productivity associated with the location.
- Review labor costs and applicable licensing requirements.
- Ensure all bid forms are completed and properly executed.
- Facilitate bid review meetings with management to finalize bids.
- Coordinate with other departments during the bid process.
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience with industrial civil, structural steel, process equipment, and piping estimating.
- Working knowledge of estimating software; MC2 is a plus.
- Competitive bid experience in petro-chemical, power, gas processing, refining, and other heavy industrial facilities.
- Construction field experience is highly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques.
- Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, processes, and standards.
- Knowledge of estimating best practices.
- Occasional travel required.
- Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional, ethical, and a team player willing to grow with the company.

- Location: Odessa, TX / Abilene TX / Houston, TX
- Overtime may be required to meet work demands.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit 1/3 to 2/3’s of the scheduled work shift.
- Office environment with low to moderate noise levels.
- Required to observe construction progress outdoors over rough or uneven terrain.
