Overview

Crown Technical Systems, a Flex Company, specializes in power distribution and protection systems, focusing on customized solutions for safe and reliable power distribution. They are seeking a Structural Welder to join their team in Fontana, CA, to fabricate structural steel for sheet metal enclosure buildings using FCAW welding techniques.

Responsibilities

• Plan details of work order procedures and gather required tools and materials.
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts prior to assembly.
• Weld structural steel (c-channels) in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Clamp, hold, or tack weld parts to obtain required configurations.
• Determine required equipment and welding techniques based on metallurgy and geometry.
• Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area.
• Notify supervisor of faulty equipment or defective materials.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship OR 2+ years’ experience in dual shield welding process.
• Certification required: AWS D1.1 FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding).
• Reading comprehension skills to interpret written directions, blueprints, and drawings.
• Basic math skills for technical specifications and measurements.
• Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding techniques.
• Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the FCAW process for structural welding.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Ability to make jigs and setups.
• Overhead crane operation is a plus.

• Position is for 2nd shift.
