Overview

Wabtec is a leading global provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions, and value-added services. The Welder WMS 3W position involves performing multiple tasks to support the fabrication of locomotive and mining components, including welding and assembly work, while promoting a cooperative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW welding processes and procedures.
  • Weld with wire sizes ranging from .035 to 3/32 Solid and Flux Cored wire.
  • Weld in all positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
  • Work with hot rolled plate, sheet, pipe, and stainless steel.
  • Perform assembly work including parts alignment to close fractional dimensions.
  • Finish components by filling, grinding, sanding, straightening, heating, and shrinking.
  • Test fabrications and welds for oil or air leaks, and pressure testing.
  • Conduct plasma cutting and air arc cutting operations.
  • Set up and run simple welding operations.
  • Pry and set heavy equipment.
  • Install and connect piping and plumbing components.
  • Use standard machine tools and a variety of hand, electric, and pneumatic tools.
  • Apply paint including dry sanding, masking, and touch up.
  • Install and connect wiring harnesses and electronic components.
  • Transport materials using radio-controlled cranes, forklifts, and tuggers.
  • Collaborate with facility employees to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Promote a climate of cooperation and mentor others in quality and safety.
  • Perform basic assembly work.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a welding program with 1 year of welding experience or 3 years of industrial/construction welding experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High-school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Willingness to wear PPE such as respirators and weld jackets.
  • Willingness to work in a tobacco-free environment.
  • Willingness to take a drug test and submit to a background check.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and scheduled overtime.
  • Pass a qualification based on AWS D1.1 weld qualifications.
  • Proficient in FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW welding processes.
  • Experience with wire sizes ranging from .035 to 3/32 solid and flux cored wire.
  • Ability to perform welding in all positions.
  • Ability to read simple to complex blueprints and manufacturing instructions.
  • Ability to complete some operations at heights up to 20 ft.
  • Ability to climb and complete work on ladders.
  • Ability to lift material up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to properly use and care for assigned tools and equipment.
  • Ability to adhere to standards and complete quality jobs safely.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Every employee will be an in-process inspector.

Additional Information

  • Starting pay rate is $34.10 per hour, with potential increases after 6 months and 4 years.
  • Night shift differential of $1/hr.
  • 4-day work week (Monday through Thursday), 10-hour shifts from 3:15PM to 1:45AM.
