Overview

Tutor Perini Corporation is seeking a Field Engineer - Structural Steel for the Midtown Bus Terminal project site in Manhattan, NY. The role involves overseeing construction activities, ensuring resource availability, and maintaining project schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Meet daily with project crews to confirm all materials, equipment, and resources are available for planned construction activities.
  • Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data throughout the project.
  • Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling.
  • Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment, or processes that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
  • Notify team members and manager of significant schedule changes and recommend solutions.
  • Provide project quantity input to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage cost coding regarding employee time, materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities.
  • Review and approve daily timecards and assist on-site Office Manager with pay discrepancies.
  • Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning, during, and after work completion.
  • Initiate and manage permits, certificates, inspections, and documentation for construction activities.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Attend weekly safety meetings with field team and project leadership.
  • Assist in the development of design drawings and provide technical input as needed.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or Equivalent.
  • Four (4)+ years of experience as an Engineer.
  • Heavy field interface experience.
  • Ability to conduct meetings and present topics to a group.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of Procure (or equivalent), Blue Beam, and HCSS.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word/Excel).
  • Demonstrated aptitude to understand engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
