Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
• Determine appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Align components using calipers and rulers and clamp pieces.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
• Maintain equipment in a safe condition.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a welder.
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures.
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing.
• Attention to detail and deftness.
• Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program.
• Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) is a plus.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Ability to exert heavy physical effort and handle objects up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, climb, or crawl.
• Ability to tolerate heights without fear.
• Ability to maintain balance and stand or walk for long periods.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Confined Space and OSHA certifications are preferred.
• Ability to work long, irregular hours, 50 to 70 hours per week.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
