Overview
The Welding Technician is responsible for performing high-quality welding and fabrication on hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder components during the manufacturing process. This role involves interpreting blueprints, preparing and assembling parts, and using various welding techniques to build and maintain precision equipment while ensuring safety, quality, and production standards.
Responsibilities
- Weld, repair, and fabricate components for hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.
- Read and interpret blueprints, repair orders, and technical specifications.
- Use MIG, TIG, stick, and other welding processes as needed.
- Prepare, align, and assemble parts prior to welding.
- Inspect completed welds for accuracy, quality, and durability.
- Operate welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, and related tools safely.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Work collaboratively with machinists, mechanics, and other team members.
- Complete documentation of repairs and report defects or issues.
- Perform related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding.
- Locate and repair cracks using inspection equipment and gas torch.
- Ensure gases are properly stored.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as required.
- Perform in-process inspection of equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; or two to four years related experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or repair environment.
- Metal inert gas welding certification.
- Knowledge of working with stainless steel, steel, aluminum, and bronze.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.
- Ability to fabricate jobs from drawings.
- Ability to use tape measures, dial calipers, and use of fixtures.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems as they arise.
- Familiarity with machine shop environment and prior tungsten inert gas welding experience.
- Skilled in MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder components preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
