Overview
Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers for over 100 years. The Shop Welder will be responsible for welding, cutting, and brazing metal pieces for the new tank division, requiring a good knowledge of welding techniques to produce quality work.
Responsibilities
- Plan details of work order procedures and gather required tools and materials.
- Repair and fabricate various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques.
- Monitor the welding, burning, and fitting process to prevent overheating or damage.
- Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces.
- Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area.
- Notify supervisor of faulty equipment or defective materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3+ years of SMAW (stick) or FCAW (flux-core) welding experience.
- Must be able to pass a company weld test.
- Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding.
- Basic understanding of design techniques and tools for producing technical plans.
- Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments.
- Basic understanding of mathematics related to welding assignments.
Additional Information
- Work schedule is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; 12-hour days (6:00am-6:30pm).
- Work 36 hours and get paid for 40 as long as specific conditions are met.
