Overview
A local welding and fabrication company is searching for a skilled Welder/Fitter to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the layout, fitting, fabrication, and welding of metal components according to blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Layout, measure, and mark metal stock to prepare for fabrication.
- Fit and assemble metal components using welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
- Perform structural and pipe welding on various metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Operate welding equipment, torches, grinders, and other hand or power tools safely and effectively.
- Inspect and ensure welds meet quality standards and specifications.
- Perform basic maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and engineers to meet project goals.
- Follow company and OSHA safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Assist in other shop duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of welding/fitting experience in a fabrication or industrial environment.
- Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand weld symbols.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Familiarity with shop math and measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.).
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must pass various types of welding tests.
Additional Information
- Salary range is $18-$25/hr depending on experience.
- Schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
- Potential for additional hours as needed.
