Overview

The Path Lead Welder on the Weekend Shift leads tank welders on Path Robotics projects and welds metal components using various arc welding processes. This role involves overseeing the welding group, communicating with supervisors, and ensuring quality in welding operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and leads welders within the Path Robotic welding group.
  • Communicates with Weld Supervisor and Weld Manager regarding employee progress and issues.
  • Prepares workload for the welders.
  • Uses GMAW-P, GMAW-S, and GTAW to weld weldments, tanks, and metal parts.
  • Reads and understands American and European blueprints, geometrical call outs, and weld symbols.
  • Evaluates processes for improvements in quality, tooling usage, and run times.
  • Welds complicated weldments conforming to alignments, dimensional, and weld quality.
  • Uses weld fixtures, gauges, and jigs when applicable.
  • Performs welding on various metals and alloys including carbon steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Assists with creating work instructions.
  • Completes inspections using calipers, height gauges, protractors, and tape measures.
  • Pressure tests fuel tanks.
  • Cleans and organizes work area.

Requirements

  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Employee must qualify within 90 days of hire in the weld processes.
  • One-year Technical Diploma and three to five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
