Overview

The MIG Welder position at American Display & Fixture in Chattanooga, TN involves setting up and operating MIG welding equipment to manufacture metal displays and fixtures. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Set up components for welding according to specifications
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Align components using calipers, rulers, and clamp pieces
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
• Inspect welds and structures to ensure quality and accuracy
• Maintain welding equipment in proper working condition
• Follow all safety and environmental guidelines and regulations
• Communicate any issues or inconsistencies to the supervisor promptly
• Assist with general production tasks when required
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Requirements

• Proven experience as a MIG Welder in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools
• Strong attention to detail and quality control
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Understanding of safety standards and willingness to follow company procedures
• Flexibility to work overtime or weekends if needed
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of a welding certification program or technical training preferred
• Minimum 2 years of MIG welding experience preferred

Additional Information

• 2nd shift: Monday-Thursday 3:30pm - 2:00am
• Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with temperature variation
