Overview
A Welder is responsible for assembly, securing, and welding metal parts using a pulse MIG welder, while also reading and interpreting complex blueprints to fabricate and weld metal components according to specifications with minimal supervision. The role requires applying appropriate welding techniques to ensure quality welds.
Responsibilities
- Follow blueprints to create quality products.
- Troubleshoot issues on the shop floor and confer with supervisors and production personnel to resolve problems.
- Prepare products to be welded by reading blueprints and utilizing fixturing.
- Ensure all equipment is in good repair, properly set up, and used safely with all safety devices in use.
- Identify and move finished products to the proper location within the shop using a forklift, if trained.
- Operate manual wire feed welders and automatic welders while utilizing appropriate welding wire and techniques.
- Perform proficient welds in all positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead, and down.
- Perform inspections as required by standards.
Requirements
- MIG welding experience required; pulse welding experience preferred.
- Prior fabrication background preferred.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs without assistance.
- Ability to use cranes and hoists.
- Ability to safely use hand, air, pneumatic, and power tools.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate in English.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout.
