Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Flux core wire welding machines for the Repair Rack.
• Strike arc and manually guide electrode or gun along weld line.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions.
• Change out consumables like gas bottles and wire.
• Set welder Amps and Volts to specifications.
• Self-examine weld for bead size and compliance with specifications.
• Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
• Identify weld defects and areas requiring repair.
• Position pipe on repair rack for repairs.
• Perform preparatory work by grinding or gouging pipe.
• Comply with all safety rules.
• Maintain completion of repairs within standard time.
• Pass entry and annual weld tests.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Must pass a 3G weld test including carbon arc back gouging.
• Must be physically able to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information effectively in small group situations.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
