Job Description

Overview

The Field Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. This role is crucial for building strong infrastructure and requires precision and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Plans details of work order procedures and gathers required tools and materials.
  • Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques.
  • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to prevent overheating or damage.
  • Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
  • Notifies supervisor of faulty equipment or defective materials.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Reads blueprints and drawings and takes measurements for planning.
  • Aligns components using calipers and rulers and clamps pieces.
  • Welds components using manual or semiautomatic welding equipment in various positions.
  • Travels to various job sites as needed.

Requirements

  • Must have a LA City Welders License.
  • Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding.
  • Excellent understanding of design techniques and tools for producing technical plans.
  • Basic ability to read and listen to assignments in various forms.
  • Fundamental understanding of mathematics related to welding assignments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship or a three-year training program required.
  • Current welding certifications required.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for extended hours.
  • Comfortable with working on elevated surfaces.
  • Resilient to working in adverse climatic conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel up to 60 miles from Costa Mesa.
