Overview
The Field Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. This role is crucial for building strong infrastructure and requires precision and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Plans details of work order procedures and gathers required tools and materials.
- Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques.
- Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to prevent overheating or damage.
- Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces.
- Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
- Notifies supervisor of faulty equipment or defective materials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Reads blueprints and drawings and takes measurements for planning.
- Aligns components using calipers and rulers and clamps pieces.
- Welds components using manual or semiautomatic welding equipment in various positions.
- Travels to various job sites as needed.
Requirements
- Must have a LA City Welders License.
- Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding.
- Excellent understanding of design techniques and tools for producing technical plans.
- Basic ability to read and listen to assignments in various forms.
- Fundamental understanding of mathematics related to welding assignments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Proficient in English.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship or a three-year training program required.
- Current welding certifications required.
Additional Information
- Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
- Ability to work in a standing position for extended hours.
- Comfortable with working on elevated surfaces.
- Resilient to working in adverse climatic conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to travel up to 60 miles from Costa Mesa.
