Overview
The Welder is responsible for laying out, fitting, and welding fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as tanks, pressure vessels, and building parts. This role requires knowledge of welding techniques and the ability to work with various materials and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
- Applies knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
- Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together.
- Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
- Sets up equipment and welds parts using various welding equipment.
- May assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
- May repair products by dismantling, straightening press, and using hand tools.
- Must be able to operate industrial lift trucks.
Requirements
- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Travel between jobsites if required.
- Completion of apprenticeship program and certification at one or more levels may be required.
- 1G Tig or 1G Mig experience.
- 6G experience is ideal.
- Hands-on experience.
