Overview
A fabricator/welder must possess the skills to read blueprints and follow proper design dimensions while maintaining deadlines and quality. The position includes maintaining equipment and ensuring a safe work environment, with the requirement to pass a welding test.
Responsibilities
- Interpret dimensional drawings produced by company engineers to plan fabrication layouts
- Weld fabricated parts to acceptable quality
- Clean and prep product for paint
- Join, fabricate, and assemble metal structures using both MIG and TIG welding techniques as required
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
- Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines that perform such work
- Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature
- Meet deadlines
- Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes
- Inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness and adherence to spec standards for good quality and fit
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 2 years of fabrication and/or print reading experience preferred
- Trade school or higher education preferred
- Welding certification preferred
- Prior experience using Flux, Mig arch, Cutting torches, and welding machinery preferred
- Strong communication, mathematical, and reasoning skills
- Good stamina; Welders often work long hours conducting repetitive movements
- Remains calm and in control under pressure
- Self-motivated and strong work ethic, even when unsupervised
- Time management skills

- Able to lift up to 75 lbs. and stand for long periods of time
