Overview
King County Metro Transit’s Facilities Division is seeking a Transit Maintenance Constructor I to perform maintenance plumbing, mechanical repairs, and welding repairs on transit buildings, facilities, structures, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Install, modify, maintain, repair, test, and certify plumbing and piping systems.
- Repair, maintain, test, and electronically record fire prevention and suppression systems.
- Install and anchor equipment to structures in compliance with building codes.
- Maintain and service equipment including pumps and heavy-duty machinery.
- Fabricate and weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals for facility repairs.
- Operate and haul heavy-duty equipment such as cranes and backhoes.
- Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and operating logs.
Requirements
- Three or more years of journey-level work experience in plumbing, welding, or mechanical trades.
- Journey-level knowledge of plumbing and pipefitting principles and practices.
- Knowledge of oxyacetylene and electric arc welding.
- Knowledge of industrial water and wastewater systems.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of fire suppression and sprinkler systems.
- Knowledge of operation and repair of heavy-duty equipment.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and extraction.
- Skill in interpreting building blueprints and design schematics.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with diverse individuals.
Additional Information
- This position is full-time, typically scheduled for 40 hours per week.
- Work location is at South Maintenance Facility in Seattle, WA, subject to change.
- Must be available to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Position is represented by Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Local 587.
