Job Description

Overview

King County Metro Transit’s Facilities Division is seeking a Transit Maintenance Constructor I to perform maintenance plumbing, mechanical repairs, and welding repairs on transit buildings, facilities, structures, and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, modify, maintain, repair, test, and certify plumbing and piping systems.
  • Repair, maintain, test, and electronically record fire prevention and suppression systems.
  • Install and anchor equipment to structures in compliance with building codes.
  • Maintain and service equipment including pumps and heavy-duty machinery.
  • Fabricate and weld ferrous and non-ferrous metals for facility repairs.
  • Operate and haul heavy-duty equipment such as cranes and backhoes.
  • Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and operating logs.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of journey-level work experience in plumbing, welding, or mechanical trades.
  • Journey-level knowledge of plumbing and pipefitting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of oxyacetylene and electric arc welding.
  • Knowledge of industrial water and wastewater systems.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of fire suppression and sprinkler systems.
  • Knowledge of operation and repair of heavy-duty equipment.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and extraction.
  • Skill in interpreting building blueprints and design schematics.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with diverse individuals.

Additional Information

  • This position is full-time, typically scheduled for 40 hours per week.
  • Work location is at South Maintenance Facility in Seattle, WA, subject to change.
  • Must be available to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Position is represented by Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Local 587.
