Responsibilities
- Ensure proper handling, storage, packing, preservation, and delivery of materials and products according to work instructions.
- Oversee the purchase and installation of machinery and equipment to meet specifications.
- Help develop weld technology to maintain industry leadership.
- Develop and write equipment specifications, performance requirements, and proposals for integrating machinery into the manufacturing process.
- Assist with Weld Excellence efforts to meet or exceed customer requirements.
- Program and troubleshoot robotic welders and ancillary equipment.
- Advance the Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions to stay updated on field developments.
- Interface with other departments to provide technical information and support.
- Develop operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions.
- Determine parts supply, maintenance tasks, and safety procedures for machines and equipment.
- Develop alternative processing methods for continuous improvement in quality and manufacturing standards.
- Lead cross-functional teams for problem-solving and resolution.
- Maximize production efficiency by reducing equipment downtime.
- Assist internal and external Program Engineers during the development stage.
- Develop and implement Continuous Improvement suggestions.
- Perform housekeeping and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 4 year degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing) or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
- 2 - 4 years related work experience in automotive product design or manufacturing.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability and production efficiency.
- Familiarity with manufacturing documentation including work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Experience analyzing production issues and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Understanding of automotive quality standards and production requirements.
- Knowledge of metal stamping operations and troubleshooting stamping defects.
- Familiarity with automotive welding processes such as robotic MIG welding and spot welding.
- Experience supporting assembly line processes including workstation design and cycle time optimization.
- Ability to evaluate and improve manufacturing processes.
