Overview
The Structural & Field Welder position at the Bronx Zoo involves performing machine work to maintain zoological park buildings and equipment, enhancing visitor experience and animal care. The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is a leading wildlife conservation organization with a global reach and a commitment to innovative conservation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance or specialized work with regard to metal, welding, cement and stonework.
- Conduct masonry repair and fabrication of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum animal enclosures, gates, and fences.
- Assemble scaffolding and operate compressor, torch, or other machine shop equipment.
- Respond to snow and storm-related emergencies for removal and clean-up operations during normal and off-normal business hours.
- Perform related tasks and duties as required.
Requirements
- High school graduate.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License.
- Five years’ experience in fabrication, machinist, construction, or automotive repair.
- NYC Welding License / American Welding Society (AWS) 3G and 4G certification preferred.
- Basic welding ability in stick and MIG.
