Overview
Currently seeking fitter/welders on the west side of Cleveland. The Fitter/Welder will need to have manual dexterity and the ability to use hand and power tools as needed, utilizing various welding equipment.
Responsibilities
- Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications.
- Determine required equipment, welding method, and welding techniques.
- Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
- Ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
- Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies.
- Heat, form, and dress metal parts using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Remove rough spots from work piece using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
- Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
- Follow blueprints to arrange metal pieces and temporarily fix them into position before welding.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Make recommendations for process improvements.
- Perform equipment inspections prior to use.
- Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the Plant and/or Maintenance Manager.
- Work accordingly to meet Safety and Quality goals.
- Work with team to balance workload to meet On Time Delivery goals.
- Manage company resources to ensure budgetary integrity and client satisfaction.
- Deburr and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture.
- Maintain professionalism in speech and action at all times.
- Follow all company policies.
