Overview
The CWI Quality Engineer position at Terex Utilities in Huron, SD, involves supporting and administering quality systems, leading nonconformance reviews, and driving quality improvements in manufacturing processes. The role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure compliance with product requirements and safety standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide support and administration of quality systems in Huron.
- Direct tasks and objectives of the Watertown quality team.
- Lead Nonconformance Review for issue root cause identification and corrective actions.
- Provide visibility of nonconformance issues and progress through dashboard-style formats.
- Drive quality improvements using data-based decision-making and collaboration.
- Analyze the effectiveness of the quality system and coordinate issues with departments and suppliers.
- Develop and implement new quality monitoring methods to increase effectiveness.
- Promote statistical analysis for improvements and support risk mitigation.
- Implement quality plans for new or revised materials and products.
- Support line audits and First Article and receiving inspection functions.
- Evaluate work methods and coach functional groups on quality processes.
- Work cooperatively with Supply Chain and Product Development teams.
- Support new product development teams.
- Generate training materials and conduct training sessions for the quality system.
- Ensure products comply with requirements, safety standards, and design specifications.
- Identify systemic weaknesses and lead initiatives for corrective actions.
- Support efforts to develop plans for continual improvement of product and process quality.
- Provide support regarding product quality issues and measurement techniques.
- Develop inspection programs and conduct dimensional analysis of manufactured parts.
- Develop and oversee Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
- Schedule and oversee on-site equipment calibrations and manage measurement devices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a technical degree.
- 2+ years of industrial experience.
- Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to influence and compile/analyze data.
- Understanding of SPC and process capability determination.
- Technical expertise in root cause identification through data analysis.
- Ability to evaluate, develop, and implement improvements quickly.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to coordinate assignments among multiple support groups.
- Ability to evaluate product and process change requests.
- Ability to work well under compressed time constraints.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Understanding of precision measurement instruments.
- Hands-on manufacturing/engineering experience in a fabrication/assembly shop.
- Experience supporting an ISO Quality System.
- Ability to eliminate Quality challenges using poke-yokes and Zero QC techniques.
- Welding process knowledge.
