Overview
Bechtel is seeking a Superintendent - Welding to supervise and direct field construction operations for the Rio Grande LNG project in Brownsville, Texas. The role involves ensuring compliance with specifications, schedules, and budgets while leading a team in a dynamic construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for field construction operations within assigned discipline or area.
- Determines workforce requirements and coordinates established area operational plans.
- Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
- Monitors work activities and ensures the quality of work performed.
- Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work.
- Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress.
- Monitors tool usage on the site and prepares Field Material Requisitions.
- Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies and procedures.
- Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas and clients’ resident representatives.
- Performs employee reviews and identifies training and development opportunities.
- Ensures compliance with Bechtel and local/national safety codes and standards.
- Actively participates in scheduled safety meetings.
- Implements Six Sigma tools, analysis, and decision making in the execution of duties.
Requirements
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 10 to 12 years industry experience in welding and welding supervision.
- Minimum 3 years Bechtel experience for Welding Superintendent role.
- Minimum 5 years Bechtel experience for Lead Welding Superintendent role.
- Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field welding activities.
- Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
- Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy.
- Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook and the Supervisors ES&H Manual.
- Knowledge of the Six Sigma program tools and methodologies.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
- Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
- Experience working with, supervising and administering subcontractors.
