Job Description

Overview

The Welder is responsible for fabricating and welding HVAC components, curb adapters, and sheet metal assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, work orders, and quality standards. This role requires proficiency in MIG welding and the ability to produce high-quality welds while meeting production requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding on sheet metal, steel, and fabricated HVAC components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
  • Assemble and weld components according to specifications and quality requirements.
  • Ensure welds meet appearance, strength, and dimensional standards.
  • Assist with fitting, aligning, and securing materials prior to welding.
  • Perform grinding, cleaning, and finishing operations as required.
  • Lift, move, position, and secure workpieces using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Operate welding machines, grinders, hand tools, and related fabrication equipment safely.
  • Maintain welding equipment and report malfunctions or repair needs.
  • Collect materials and equipment necessary to complete assigned work.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
  • Identify and report defects, damaged materials, or production issues.
  • Follow approved work instructions, drawings, and quality procedures.
  • Support rework and corrective actions when necessary.
  • Follow all company safety policies and welding safety procedures.
  • Properly wear and maintain required PPE at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, and incidents immediately.
  • Work effectively with welders, assemblers, leads, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Communicate production issues, material shortages, and quality concerns promptly.
  • Participate in required training and cross-training activities.
  • Support department productivity and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Proficient in MIG welding techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications.
  • Experience using grinders, hand tools, and welding equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in HVAC manufacturing, curb adapter fabrication, or sheet metal fabrication is preferred.
  • Ability to perform layout, fitting, and fabrication work is preferred.
  • Experience working in a production-driven manufacturing environment is preferred.
