Overview
Our client, a leading manufacturer of robotic and automated welding systems for structural steel and heavy fabrication, is hiring a Welding Engineer to provide technical expertise for customers across the United States and internationally. This role involves post-commissioning training, weld-quality diagnostics, and continuous improvement of robotic welding processes from a remote U.S. home base.
Responsibilities
- Own post-commissioning technical enablement and deliver advanced training in operation, programming, parameter optimization, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Diagnose and resolve weld-quality issues at customer sites, adjusting parameters, procedures, and databases to restore or improve weld quality.
- Build, optimize, and maintain welding databases and procedures tuned to each customer's parts mix and quality requirements.
- Provide responsive remote and on-site technical support to end users, owning issues through to resolution.
- Create and maintain training materials, manuals, guides, and technical documentation.
- Support the Sales team during technical reviews and assist in the commissioning/startup of new robotic welding cells.
- Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Commissioning, and Service teams to deliver a seamless end-to-end customer experience.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience operating, programming, optimizing, and maintaining robotic or automated welding systems.
- Strong working knowledge of welding processes (e.g., GMAW/FCAW) applied to structural steel and heavy fabrication.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering Technology or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience delivering technical training or presentations to operators or customers in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
- Fluent English (spoken and written) sufficient to train customers and author technical documentation.
- Able and willing to travel 40–50% across the U.S., Canada, and internationally, with valid passport/travel documents.
- U.S. work authorization and U.S. residence within 1.5 hours of a regional airport.
