Overview
The Sheet Metal Mechanic is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment, including ducts and furnace casings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Determine project requirements according to blueprints and instructions.
- Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions on material using various tools.
- Install assemblies such as ducts and furnace casings in frameworks.
- Fabricate or alter parts at construction sites using metalworking tools.
- Develop and lay out patterns for efficient material use with computerized equipment.
- Maneuver completed units into position for installation and anchor them.
- Inspect parts and installations for conformance to specifications and codes.
- Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets.
- Maintain equipment and make repairs or modifications as necessary.
- Perform mechanical inspections of HVAC systems during building commissioning.
