Overview
Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic (Level 2) with strong hydraulic systems experience, particularly in wet kit installations for PTOs. This role is vital for supporting Ecology's fleet of trucks and trailers, ensuring uptime, safety, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Perform professional installation of wet kits, hydraulic pumps, tanks, lines, valves, and PTO systems on Class 8 diesel trucks.
- Conduct diagnostics and repairs on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting leaks, pressure failures, and mechanical malfunctions.
- Service, inspect, and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, and electrical components in accordance with OEM standards.
- Collaborate with senior mechanics and management on build specifications and install configurations for various truck body applications.
- Ensure all hydraulic and mechanical work is completed to DOT safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain proper documentation of work orders, parts usage, and service notes in the maintenance system.
- Use hand tools, diagnostic software, welding equipment, and hydraulic testing gauges as necessary for repairs and installs.
- Monitor inventory of hydraulic parts and recommend restocking when needed.
- Support other maintenance operations including preventative service, emergency repairs, and inspections as assigned.
- Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and toolbox talks to promote a safe and compliant working environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational school certification preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with at least 1 year specializing in hydraulic systems and wet kit installs.
- Knowledge of PTO systems, hydraulic pump setups, tank configurations, and control mechanisms.
- Must have own tools and experience using diagnostic equipment and power tools.
- Working knowledge of diesel engine systems (Cummins, CAT, Detroit, etc.), DEF systems, electrical diagnostics, and air brake systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Fleet Maintenance software is a plus.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license; Class A or B license preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced shop environment.
