Overview

Cox Fleet, headquartered in Indianapolis, is one of the largest fleet maintenance companies in the country, providing on-site mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. They are currently hiring a Sr Mobile Light/Medium Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs at customer locations.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and comply with safe operating practices and procedures.
  • Travel to and perform work at customer locations, mostly outside.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and DOT inspections on light and medium vehicles in the field.
  • Conduct routine maintenance such as changing oil and checking batteries.
  • Use hand tools and precision instruments, as well as some Diesel tools.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of vehicles and equipment.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Identify problems and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
  • Independently determine parts required for each job and order them.
  • Document work performed and findings according to company standards.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Apply knowledge acquired through training and experience to perform the job.
  • Work with the support team to assess customer needs and resolve issues.
  • Manage concurrent tasks and prioritize work activities.
  • Act with integrity and maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and adhere to Standard Repair Times.
  • Communicate with corporate offices for repair approvals and purchase orders.
  • Participate in required safety training.
  • Maintain assigned service vehicle and conduct safety checks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
  • Minimum of five years of experience as an Automotive Technician on light/medium vehicle repair.
  • Seven years of equivalent experience in a similar Technician role.
  • Participate in and complete all required training.

Additional Information

  • Travel is required 100% of the time.
  • Rotating schedule of Mon-Fri the first week and Mon-Sat the second week.
  • This is a Flag Rate Position with an abundance of work available.
