Overview
The Mechanic 2 position involves performing professional-level maintenance, diagnostic, and repair work on various vehicle systems, including gasoline and diesel engines, electrical, hydraulic, and computer systems. The role requires a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with responsibilities ranging from routine inspections to complex repairs.
Responsibilities
- Confer with customers to obtain vehicle problem descriptions.
- Analyze work orders, diagrams, and specifications to estimate material needs.
- Use protective materials to safeguard vehicle interiors and exteriors during work.
- Diagnose systems and components using manufacturer specifications and service manuals.
- Perform routine safety inspections on new vehicles and equipment.
- Conduct standard preventative maintenance following vehicle inspection checklists.
- Change various filters including cabin, air, oil, fuel, hydraulic, and coolant.
- Install, repair, and maintain vehicle accessories and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair steering axles and related components.
- Maintain and repair brake systems, including hydraulic and air brakes.
- Diagnose and repair issues with tires, wheels, and tubes.
- Diagnose and repair drive axles and drivetrain components.
- Cut and weld metal materials using various tools and techniques.
- Diagnose and repair electrical system components.
- Maintain and repair heating and air conditioning systems.
- Perform inspections and diagnostics using specialized equipment.
- Assist with engine, transmission, and hydraulic system repairs.
- Maintain and repair shop equipment.
- Perform vehicle wash activities as needed.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff.
- Maintain records and time reports.
