Overview
SULZER PUMP SERVICES (US) INC. is a U.S.-based company specializing in pump services and mechanical solutions, supporting industrial customers with maintenance and repair of pump systems. The Pump Repair Mechanic role involves hands-on repair and overhaul of centrifugal pumps at the Los Angeles Service Center.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble centrifugal pumps per Sulzer repair procedures and customer specifications.
- Perform dimensional inspections of rotating equipment components using precision instruments.
- Set up and execute hydrostatic tests, balance verifications, and clearance checks; document results.
- Coordinate scope confirmation and findings with the Repair Coordinator and Shop Lead.
- Support customer Witness and Hold Points during the repair process.
- Follow Sulzer EHS standards and complete inspection reports and time entries accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and 5S-compliant workstation.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience repairing rotating equipment, specifically centrifugal pumps.
- Ability to read mechanical assembly drawings and basic GD&T callouts.
- Proficient with precision measuring tools such as micrometers and dial indicators.
- Working knowledge of mechanical seals, bearings, couplings, and fits and clearances.
- Comfortable operating overhead cranes and shop forklifts.
- Strong attention to detail in documenting inspection findings and repair work.
- High school diploma, GED, or technical/vocational equivalent.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
