Overview
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Technician II - Welder/Fabricator to support the reliable delivery of water to 19 million people. The role involves welding and fabrication tasks to maintain and repair various water utility equipment and structures.
Responsibilities
- Design, layout, and assemble parts using metal and metal alloys.
- Fix critical infrastructure like gates, valves, pipelines, shafts, and impellers.
- Build and maintain cabinets, vaults, catwalks, guard rails, and drain covers.
- Perform semi-skilled welding tasks to ensure facility system reliability.
- Follow all established trade, procedural, and regulatory code practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and 2 years of experience in welding/fabrication.
- Experience performing at least 3 different types of welding techniques.
- Baseline experience and skills in general welding and fabrication methods.
- Understanding of trade codes and safety practices.
- Ability to work with varied metal alloys and interpret design structures.
