Overview

Our Client is a well-established non-destructive testing (NDT) company headquartered in Staten Island, New York, serving the Tri-State area since 1986. They are seeking a Level II UT (NDT) Technician with strong Ultrasonic Testing experience to join their growing field operations team, primarily focusing on Eddy Current Testing of chillers and HVAC-related systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Ultrasonic Testing (UT) inspections on structural welds, cranes, beams, and various industrial structures.
  • Conduct Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing inspections when required.
  • Perform Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and occasional Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
  • Evaluate inspection results and determine appropriate testing methods based on material type, structure configuration, and project requirements.
  • Document findings accurately and prepare clear inspection reports.
  • Perform Eddy Current Testing of chillers, heat exchangers, and HVAC-related systems.
  • Work alongside experienced technicians to learn and execute tubular Eddy Current inspections.
  • Maintain testing equipment and ensure accurate data collection.
  • Travel to customer sites throughout the Tri-State area.
  • Perform inspections independently while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with clients and project stakeholders as needed.
  • Maintain professionalism while representing Our Client in the field.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure all inspections comply with applicable ASME Codes and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing activities and findings.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experience preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Level II Ultrasonic Testing Technician.
  • Strong knowledge of conventional Ultrasonic Testing methods.
  • Experience inspecting welds, structural steel, cranes, and related applications.
  • Experience performing MT inspections.
  • PT experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ASME Codes and Standards.
  • Ability to determine appropriate testing methods for various structures and weld configurations.
  • Strong understanding of NDT inspection procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in the field.
  • Reliable, organized, and punctual.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and independent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to perform field inspections in various industrial and commercial environments.
  • Good physical condition and ability to work outdoors when required.
