Overview
The DG3 Mechanic/Electrician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing complex electrical and control systems on high-speed printing and bindery machinery. This role is essential for minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring safety compliance in a demanding manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Execute rigorous preventive maintenance schedules to ensure continuous operation of machinery.
- Follow technical diagrams, machine manuals, and OEM instructions to maintain production efficiency.
- Troubleshoot malfunctioning components and control systems using advanced testing tools.
- Diagnose complex PLC issues and mechanical faults by observing devices in operation.
- Plan and execute long-term repairs to prevent recurring issues.
- Read and comprehend Maintenance Equipment Manuals and complex mechanical/electrical blueprints.
- Utilize PCs for technical information searches and maintenance log completion.
- Coordinate with OEMs to resolve advanced technical issues.
- Safely work with AC/DC voltages ranging from 24V to 480V.
- Replace critical electrical components including motors, VFDs, and sensors.
- Install new electrical wiring and control equipment according to blueprints.
- Perform all duties in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.
- Provide updates to supervision regarding operational problems and safety concerns.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a certified electrician apprenticeship or a valid state-issued Journeyman/Master Electrician license.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on electrical and mechanical experience in heavy manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Proven ability to interpret complex electrical schematics and equipment manuals.
- Strong working knowledge of PLCs and VFDs.
- Familiarity with major print and bindery OEM platforms.
Additional Information
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working around heavy machinery with industrial noise levels.
- Candidates must be available to work 2nd shift, 3rd shift, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Minimal travel, at less than 10%.
