Overview
Overland Contracting Inc is seeking an Aluminum 6G Welder - Specialty to plan, lay-out, weld, install, and repair various types of specialty pipe and structural products. The role requires a strong understanding of welding techniques and safety procedures in a construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Use hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble, weld, and install structural steel components.
- Weld components in various positions including flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead.
- Clamp, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts for welding.
- Weld special alloys such as Chromium, Nickel, Cobalt, Copper, and Aluminum.
- Set up welding machines and adjust gas flow and pressure for desired flames.
- Pass quality audits on welds and maintain knowledge of welding codes.
- Participate in safety processes and report hazards to supervisors.
- Engage with work teams to achieve zero injuries and maintain a safe work environment.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to helpers and laborers.
- Read and understand plans and specifications, including diagrams and drawings.
Requirements
- At least four years of pipe and structural welding experience or equivalent education.
- Must pass welding tests on multiple procedures and codes for specialty alloys.
- Strong working knowledge of welding codes and specifications.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Must have all necessary tools as per the Pipe Welder tool list.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Project welding certificate through OCI Quality.
- Multiple years of experience as a journeyman preferred.
- Certifications in NCCER Welding, Boilermaking, Pipefitting, Ironworking, or Rigger are preferred.
